dear littles,
in honor of his birthday…we spent some time getting to know that great man a bit more today…
that one ordinary man…that did extraordinary things with his one life…
so…extraordinary…
and we listened…
the…“four score and seven years ago…”
and we pondered…
the…what if?
what if we each stood up for one good thing?
what if we each dedicated our lives to pushing right through…no matter what…‘till that one good thing was for sure?
what kind of place would this world be then?
what then?
and then i remembered his…“all that i am…or hope to be…i owe to my angel mother.”
and i wondered…what part did she play in his becoming that great man?
and i had to ask…me…
what part am i playing? am i playing it well?
for when the all-too-soon someday comes…and you aren’t these littles any longer?
and…maybe…
this?
right now…
my part…is my one good thing…

another “pondering” from yesterday! a facebook friend started a discussion about how we moms need to get into more pictures…for our kids’ sake! for them to look back on someday…when they aren’t these littles any longer!
i’m so guilty of this…i hide from the camera…
so i’m dusting off the pictures that i do have…and determining to jump into the frame a bit more often! 😉
I am also VERY guilty of this, Darc, and I have been making more of an effort to rectify the situation. It’s hard to do because I feel like I’m stepping WAY out of my comfort zone, but I’d love for my kids to be able to look back and actually SEE that I was there…not just have to look at pictures I took of THEM! 🙂
Speaking of being in pictures, I really want to make sure we do an all-inclusive family picture this year. If you have any thoughts or ideas about when and where this would best suit your gang, please let me know! XOXO
